Great job to both the guys and girls teams for their first win of the season! There were many great swims by both teams, including a few automatic state cut times already, and many secondary state cuts as well. We took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in many of the races, won plenty, and had many lifetime best swims. Great way to start off the season everyone!
Millard South, here we come!
Girls won 112-72
Guys won 112-68
The Mustangs bolted past the Bulldogs in the season opener this year. Most impressive was the number of top three finishes. The ladies went one-two in the opening relay followed by senior Captain Mandi Caudle’s second place finish in the 200 Free. Raynee Buckley finished an impressive third in the 200 Free while Megan Klasna and Brittany Sunderman went two-three in the 200 IM. Samantha Triba and Angela Weaver teamed up to place first and third in the 50 free followed by newcomer Courtney Kobold who scored second place points in the diving. The premiere event for the lady Stangs was the 100 Butterfly: first place Mandi Caudle, second Chelsea Fisher, and third Rachel Gehringer. Sammy and Angela went one-three in the 100 free as well. Followed by Raynee and Megan who went two-three in the 500 free. The girls went two-three in the 200 Free relay and Britt and Ali Gabriel went one-three in the 100 Back. Senior captain Tory Fox won the 100 Breast and the ladies rounded out competition in the 400 free relay with a one-three finish.
The guys meet started the season off right. The first relay went two-three, and the first event, the 200 free, was a sweep. Jeff Libov won followed by Freshman Kevin Falck and senior Zack Knott. Jeremy Huang nabbed a third in the 200 IM and the 50 free went one-two-three with an outstanding win by newcomer Jake McClinton, second Mike Kattleman and third Kiethstone Kim. Brad Schoreit was dominant in the diving followed by a sneak third from Miles Ritchie in the 100 fly. Freshman Jake Cunningham won the 100 free from behind followed closely by Kiethstone who placed third. The boys 500 was another clean sweep with Freshman Kevin, Jeff, and Rance Ristau going one-two-three. Next came complete dominance in the 200 free relay with a one-two finish. Backstrokers Miles Ritchie and Justin Kofoed went one-two in the 100, and Zack won the 100 breast. With a two-three finish at the end of the meet the boys 400 free relay was the final straw for the Bulldogs.
